Grandson card

Colour scheme for this card is Marina Mist - ink, ribbon, designer series paper and Co-ordinations cardstock for the base card with a touch of Soft Sky used in the colouring in.
The white card has been embossed with the dots embossing folder from Sale-a-bration.
Stamp set is Baby We've Grown and For My Family (retired)
I cut the shoes out and used a foam pad to raise one of them to add some depth. I curved the top banner again to add some interest and highlight the word "baby"
I thought it needed something else so added the embosslit hearts and the little safety pin.

Baby blanket, card & Pom Poms

A work colleague left this week on maternity leave. Another opportunity to make another tag blanket. I didn't like the blue fleece in Boyes so bought a baby fleece blanket, which was quite thin but I loved the colour and it had a teddy bear pattern in it too. I thought once it had other material behind it it would be OK, which it was.

My second attempt at applique. I traced the teddy bear in the fleece & enlarged it for the pattern. I used some of the backing material on the his tummy. She was thrilled with it.

I'm loving this set of Starburst stamps, they can be used for such a variety of occasions.
The enjoy is a new one too in the Simply Celebrate set.
And here is the first use of some Pom Poms, on the wrapping!
Marty said is everyone going to get Pom Poms on their presents now, and I think it is a big YES - I love them.

My new toy!!!!!!

I was so excited after my trip to Harrogate papercrafts show last Saturday and couldn't wait to get home to try out my new toy - some Pom Pom makers (easily pleased aren't I).

I had never seen these before and maybe because I had been pinning things made with Pom Poms on Pinterest, and they seem to be popular at the moment I noticed them. So I decided to buy a couple.
I know 2 pieces of card works well - I remember making them as a child, but I was hoping these would be easier and quicker.

When I got home I searched for some suitable wool, didn't have much but enough to try it out.
There were only a few pictures on the back of the packet and as I was making my first one I thought this wasn't going to work, but I carried on!
I was right, it fell apart!!
So what did I do - did exactly the same thing again and yes surprisingly the same thing happened - why did I think it wouldn't?

So I went onto You Tube and found a video to show how to do it - easy when you know how!
I was well away then - 3 minutes it take to make the smallest.

The next day I called a round my mam's to take her some Pom Poms she wanted for some bootees she had knitted - aren't they cute.

She said - you will be wanting some wool do you - she knows me so well!
Off she went upstairs and came down with these - as well as 2 boxes with lots of balls of wool in them LOL

So I have got plenty to keep me going.
You can get really large ones that make 4" pom poms and even heart shaped ones - just search on google images or Pinterest for some ideas.

I think I have now got pom pom repetitive strain injury.

Another baby arrival....

....grandson of Alison, baby Sebastian William Semark, born 12.3.14.
Congratulations to Tom & Chelsea.

Alison came for her day's crafting on 17th February and after much deliberation decided to make a frame for the baby, which she knew was going to be a boy.
So here she is with the finished result to match the colours of the nursery - it looks even better in real life, which is usually the case.

She went away with things to finish off a card & tag to match. Well done Alison it's lovely and I know you were pleased with it and I'm sure Tom & Chelsea and baby Sebastian will be too.

Baby arrival - tag blanket & cards

Our gorgeous great niece was born on 1st March and I wanted to make something for her.
I chose to have a go at making a tag blanket. I can remember buying one of these about 8 years ago for another great niece and remember thinking at the time I could make one!

So here is my attempt, which I must admit I was really pleased with and really enjoyed making it.
I got the fleece and material from Boyes, the ribbon is from my stash. I decided I wanted to add some applique & her name and came up with the rabbit as I had also bought a soft toy rabbit. Choosing the ribbons and deciding where to put them took the longest time, apart from stitching the little label. The sewing was the easy bit!
I thought with the applique having ribbon all the way round would be too much so I just put it on 2 corners.

This card design is a copy of a card made by Heather Summers

I loved her colour combination but decided to go with white for mine.
A matching card for Myla's doting sister Ayanna.

Knitted cowl

I started this cowl last year on holiday in the heat of summer and finished it a few weeks ago, just in time for my friends birthday!

I got the free pattern from Ravelry - a great place to get patterns from - check it out if you haven't been on there.
I can't remember knitting a cable pattern before and I was surprised how easy this one was. I decided I wanted to angle the front something I had seen on Pinterest, so put the buttons along the side rather than the edge.
The buttons were in my stash and I think they came in a vintage collection I got from Ebay when I was getting them for the wedding.

Note board frame with a magnet

I made another frame for a friends birthday - I really enjoy making these.

This time I decided to try and make it a magnetic one too. I put a sheet of stick magnet behind the glass and behind the paper. It appeared it was going to be strong enough, but when I stuck the button onto the magnet to use on the front of the frame it just wouldn't hold.

So I stuck a small very strong magnet on the letter O, stamped the image again, cut it out and stuck on top of the magnet to cover it up. This worked fine.

This time I tied Natural ribbon around the frame to hold the dry wipe pen in place.

Birthday box & card

I can't believe it's 3 weeks since I posted on here - where the time is going.
I have been really busy as March is an exceptionally busy time with birthdays for me. 3 of them are on the same day!! So I have been busy just not had tome to upload on my blog.

Today I am sharing a card and matching box that I have been making for my work colleagues birthdays. The box is made using the envelope board and contains 2 Ferrero Rocher chocolates, just a little treat.
I got the box idea from Tanja Kolar, I shared her details with you before after covention.

Here is a link to how to make the box http://www.tanjakolar.de/page/10/

I have scheduled some entries so keep checking back - hope you like them :)
