Stokesley show part 3........

......hanging tree decoration and Christmas decoration categories

I entered 2 items in the hanging tree decoration category  - a sewn stocking with removable mouse and a snowman made from cotton reels.

I saw the pattern for this on Pinterest and it's on my boards if you want it and I did one in the colours used on the pattern. I decided for the show I would do one in more traditional colours and add a few little extras.

Another Pinterest idea that I changed to how I wanted it to look.

I was surprised to get a 3rd prize as there was some lovely ones and I loved the
1st and 2nd - would love some of the snowflakes hanging on my tree - maybe next year!

For the Christmas decoration category I made another item I had seen on Pinterest, a pom pom snowman wreath. As always I changed it slightly and added a hanging quote.
I didn't get anything in this category but have a lovely pom pom wreath.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd places are below.

Stokesley show part 3......

.....greetings card category.

I entered 3 cards in this category a Christmas bendi card, stamped one and a sewn one and enjoyed making them all.

I've never made a bendi card and have been seeing a lot on various websites so decided to give it a go with my new edgelits and this was the result. It does fold flat if you were having to post it but think it will be hand delivered to some-one this Christmas!

When we went back to the tent after judging it was brilliant to see my Mam had been awarded 1st place for one of her cards - she was so shocked and surprised.

My stamped card got 2nd place

This was most of the entries - who'd be a judge!

Stokesley show part 2.....

....decorated box category.
I bought the paper mache tissue box from Hobbycraft and decided I would use the Hardwood stamp to create the wood effect. The style developed as I went along and I knew I wanted flowers but needed something as more of a focus and that's when I decided to use some of the quotes stamps I have.
I mounted the quotes and some of the flowers to add depth and added butterflies, pearls and stickles for a little touch of sparkle. Lace around the lid finished it off.

These are the first and second place boxes.

Stokesley show entries part 1

I entered Stokesley Show again this year and loved making and trying new things to challenge myself.
The thing I enjoyed making the most was my entries for the peg doll category. As soon as I saw the category It was something different and after looking on line and Pinterest and seeing what I liked I couldn't wait to get started.
I found a supplier for the wooden heads, pegs and stands and dug out my acrylic paints.
I started with the heads and this is still my favourite part of making them, they really start to come to life when you add the hair and features. As always I learnt as I went along and think I've got the process right now.

This was my first attempt and I decided not to enter it after I made some others but I do love her and have to keep her as it was the first I made.
Her dress was some material Iand lace I already had and her arms are pipe cleaners with embroidery thread wrapped round. A little Stampin Up flower finished of her hair.

I entered 3 pegs in the show using different techniques a painted Superman,
one in a stand with a felt dress and a hanging Christmas one.

I was lucky to be awarded 2nd place for this entry .

I made a stand from old cotton reels and wire to hang her from for display

My friends are very kind and often say to me well what won,
so here are the first and 3rd places

This was Natalie's birthday card and I used the new stamp set
Awesomely Artistic.
I stamped it onto a piece of Timeless Elegance DSP in black and left it just an outline, adding a few pearls. I distressed the edges and mounted onto black card, just curling the top corner over.
The black scalloped lace is the other side of the DSP which I cut out and added Sahara Sand lace on top with linen thread.
The frame is in the set just need to add a greeting. Finished off with a few sequins.

More work of art....

I made This frame for a 40th anniversary as you can see - same technique and style as the card I made for James.
Martyn & I signed it too (rather than the back of the frame) felt as though we were doing graffiti on a wall LOL!
It was something a bit different and well received.

I'm back!!!!

   I can't believe I haven't posted on here since June 😯
I have been clearing out and sorting my craft room and it still is work in progress LOL
I have had a problem with my computer and photos and at one point I thought I'd lost them all - quite a scary thought so make sure you back them up or print them out.

What I did start doing was taking photos with my iPad and it's just dawned on me if I do that I can upload to my blog so much easier than having to upload the photo to the PC upstairs - you know what it's like making the effort to go upstairs to do something 😮
It means I can sit on the settee and do it 😊 so hopefully I might post more regularly.

So I'll post some of the things I've been doing since June starting with James birthday card.
I stamped the background first using Work of Art and Gorgeous Grunge and the Happy birthday. Then I used the brick embossing folder and inked it lightly with smoky slate on the raised side so it inks the brick outline when put through the Bigshot.
I added embellishments and SON to add depth & texture.
