Tuesday Tag Time

One of the things I love making is tags, which some of you know and now have a collection of them!
So I thought I would do a weekly entry about tags.
Some might be simple, some a little more complicated, some stamped and some not, but hopefully they will all give you some ideas and inspiration.

Today I thought I would use an item from the new catalogue that I couldn't wait to get my hands on, the Chalk Talk framelits. There is a matching set of stamps that go with the framelits but I will keep them for another day.
I thought I would just show some ideas using the framelits and that you don't have to have the stamps that go with them.

This is the Chalk Talk frame lit set. I love the little set of 3 dies to create the holes. They don't just have to be used with this set you can use them with other dies and punches to create tags and give them that professional looking finish.

I found it easier to cut a tag first then position the hole die and run it through the big shot again. When I get the magnetic plate for the Big Shot I should be able to do it at the same time.

These are the tags I cut out using the new In Colour card stock

This tag has no stamping at all - 3/8" scallop circle punch with new In Colour Boutique details and ruffle stretch trim in Crisp Cantaloupe

This uses 2 tags one placed on top of the other which adds colour and depth. I have stamped directly onto the cream tag with stamps from Fitting Occasions stamp set. You could add more layers by stamping the sentiment onto cream card use a circle punch to cut out and then stick it onto the smaller tag or use a foam pad.

This is the tag with the cut out shape like on a bread tag! It will be great for wrapping around gift bags but here is a way if you don't want it that shape.
I used the new Artisan label punch and stuck one over the hole on the front and back. This enabled me to ink the edges too adding a different look.
The image is stamped in Strawberry Slush the same as the card but to add more depth I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Pricking the edge of a tag also adds interest and texture.
To create the washer to thread tie through punch a small hole in the card you want to use then punch a larger one to create a ring of card. This can be placed where you want it to go and mark the inside hole and then use the same small punch to punch the hole in the tag, then stick the washer in place.

Use other die cuts or punches to create embellishments to stick onto your tags, along with buttons etc.

I cut holes at each end of this tag to thread the trim through. The message has been stuck to the trim with a foam pad. Don't forget you can use other framelits to co-ordinate with this set to add layers and use patterned paper as well as plain card stock.

Don't forget as well as using tags for gifts you can use them on cards and scrapbook pages as embellishments......I will leave that for another Tuesday!

  2. Thanks for your comment Margaret, it's lovely to hear it has given you some inspiration as that what sharing ideas is all about for me. I can speak from experience that I always get comments about tags when giving even the smallest of gifts which makes the effort all the more worthwhile x
